About The Race

One of the oldest road races in Ireland takes place every St. Stephen's day. It has been run since 1961 along the same route. 2021 is its 60th year, run from Farranfore to Firies and back to the finish in Farranfore.

Start & Finish is at the Kerry Mill in Farranfore, running close to the cross-roads in Firies and returning via the same route. Road closed to traffic so you can enjoy the day without having to worry about any traffic concerns.

The 5K Timed Race is open to all those aged 13 years and over on race day. (Race permit rules).
Due to popular demand we also have a 2K Family Fun Run / Walk to ensure the whole family can enjoy the day. This promises to be a really exciting morning of running catering for all, runners and families alike.

The first 400 meters is up hill, once at the top it is down hill and then levels off for at least 1.6KM. Up hill as you approach Firies Village, you will then turn on the road where it will be clearly marked. From here on you are returning on the same road you started from.
2K will turn around at the 1K marker which is just before the railway line crossing & returning on the same road.
The road will be closed off to all traffic for the duration of the race.
Their will be plenty of stewards along the route with water stations also available at start/finish area.
